After graduating in viticulture and pomology at Elsenburg Agricultural College and Weinbaushule Weinsberg (in Germany), Newald Marais’s Winemaking dream began.

With his utter dedication, love and passion for the industry he took on each and every opportunity to put in everything and guarantee the success of his product.

In 2002 he moved back closer to region of his birth. He acted as consulting winemaker at quite a few cellars in the Breede River Valley and surrounding areas.

Now, since early 2008, Newald finds himself in what he calls “the ultimate dream”. With his vision to provide a Basket Pressed Perfected wine, Kranskop is sure to be another great success for this renowned winemaker.
